The Future of Belonging

Begin exploring

01 / The theme

Belonging sounds emotional and personal. But it is also shaped by places, systems, technologies, cultures and the people who decide who gets to participate.

We can travel more easily, work across countries, speak several languages and remain constantly connected. Yet feeling connected is not necessarily the same as feeling recognised, trusted or at home.

02 / Why now?

03 / London is our laboratory

For three weeks, you are not only studying London.
You are experiencing what it means to arrive here.

  • When do you stop feeling like a visitor?
  • Which places feel open to you?
  • Which unwritten rules do you need to learn?
  • What can you contribute before you leave?
  • Can you belong somewhere temporarily?

The central challenge

04 / Choose a tension

Interesting ideas rarely begin with agreement.

A tension gives you two truths to hold at the same time. Choose one that makes you curious, then look for how it appears in everyday life.

01

Place

02

Identity

03

Community

04

Technology

05 / The role of AI

AI is not automatically the answer.

It may be part of the context, the material or the tension.

You may decide that AI is useful, unnecessary or actively harmful. Making that judgement is part of the work.

06 / Design Management as a venture studio

The “1” is not a finished company. It is a real proposition, placed in front of real people, that gives you evidence about what should happen next.

07 / What could you launch?

Your venture does not need to become a company.

It needs to make one idea real enough for someone to experience and respond to it.

A place to begin

Do not begin with a solution.
Begin by noticing a moment when someone is present, but does not yet feel part of what is happening.

Where does belonging begin?
